Laughter Yoga    -      Life is better when your laughing

Tilsa healed herself through laughter and is now passionate about sharing her knowledge to others who wish to do the same. Laughter can instantly change your mood and attitude in a positive way to enhance wellbeing. As a Laughter Yoga Leader, Pellowah and Reiki Practitioner and Kinesiologist, Tilsa is combining these skills to bring laughter to the workplace.

Tilsa’s sessions are mainly for allied healthcare providers, schools and business wellness programs who are looking for ways to reduce and manage stress to enhance wellbeing at a emotional, physical and mental level.

Tilsa provides ongoing sessions to Nexus Primary Health and Sunnybrook Health in a heart centered, fun and casual way. Tilsa uplifts spirits and enhances moods to radiate health, happiness and wellness.
What is Laughter Yoga?
Laughter Yoga combines playful exercises to stimulate laughter with yoga breathing, that anyone can do anytime, anywhere that results in health and happiness.

It is a fun, social aerobic exercise program, that enables people to laugh even when they don't feel like it, with eye contact the laughter becomes real.

It works on the concept that the mind can not tell the difference between real and simulated laughter, so all we have to do is put the body into a physical state of laughter and then the mind will follow. Once it does it releases a cocktail of drugs that help to cure and heal a variety of conditions.

The reason that we need to do Laughter Yoga is because the laughter is sustained for a period of between 15 to 30 minutes and comes from the belly.

Laughter is alive, it’s interpersonal and it’s so freeing. Laughter vibrates the parasympathetic nervous system and organs, relaxing and soothing the body, moving toxins and circulating fresh oxygen around the body.

Laughter yoga is the opportunity to laugh, breath deeply, smile, move, feel connected and relax so you can enjoy life.

WHAT PARTICIPANTS SAY
“I could not think of anything that worried me throughout the session”
"Even thou I was not participating, I had a smile on my face or I was laughing along"
"That was just what I needed"

“I could feel the light you where giving out in the meditation”
“I cant believe I can just laugh without jokes or comedy”

“Tilsa Thomas launched her Laughter Yoga business in 2019, and I have been a regular participant. I would like to encourage others to take it up.
Tilsa’s Laughter sessions are playful while providing physical, emotional and psychological benefits. They are a genuine work-out for muscles and the breath. I always find them both energising and relaxing.
Anyone can do Laughter Yoga. There’s no prerequisite skill or fitness level. The sessions don’t involve traditional yoga poses. Instead, they comprise structured movements and breathing, while having fun and exercising ‘laughter muscles’. In class, Tilsa explains the physiological benefits, which are similar to those of yoga practice. Sessions finish with a brief relaxation meditation.
Anxiety levels are increasing across society, including children and teens. I believe innovative programs like Laughter Yoga are a valuable addition to what’s available in the community to help people de-stress.
Tilsa herself is an excellent session leader. She pitches the classes with the right mix of explaining the benefits and leading the laughter exercises. While some people may feel self- conscious about this kind of activity, I find Tilsa able to adjust her style to accommodate their needs.
As a regular participant in yoga and Pilates, I find Laughter Yoga an excellent complement to my regime. As a small business owner, having the opportunity for a good laugh is very therapeutic.”
